2 hrs

2 much needed hours alone. Without kids. Alone to do anything I wanted. I usually spend times like this worrying that the kids are giving John a hard time, cutting my time alone short to get back home and rescue him, but this time I didn't. I used every minute of it up. I sat in Panera and read "Eat, Pray, Love" laughing out loud at the funny parts. I people watched, drank iced tea, picked chocolate cookie crumbs off of my pink shirt. I drove around town blasting the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I bought some flowers at Trader Joe's, and then I went home. I felt lighter, more happy, and I made a mental note to myself that I have to do this every week. HALF TO. No guilt, just do it and enjoy it.

I love that photo. Glad you got some time away and what a wonderful idea to make it a weekly ritual. Might have to take that idea up myself.....

OMG you don't understand...i could've written this post today. i've only recently started to make a point to do this...and i swear i'm a better mom for it. i come back renewed and full of a new appreciation, and all it really takes is an hour or two.

i'm so glad that you did this for yourself...what a treat!

This is so funny, I do the exact same thing. Usually worry my free time away and come home early. Right down to the Red Hot Chili Peppers! Enjoy...enjoy...enjoy! We have to meet soon for a coffee or kid play time. What are you up to next week?
