Our cat Sunshine is sick. I don't know what is wrong with her, I went to pick her up the other day and was horrified. She was so skinny, light as a feather. I could feel all of her little bones. I feel guilty for not noticing earlier. She is an outside cat so really I don't pick her up that often. I call for our cats (we have 2) to come in at night and they sleep in the garage. I comb her regularly but just never noticed.

Maybe it happened suddenly. She looks sick. We think she is not eating. I know we should rush her to the vet. Honestly though we don't know how to afford that. I guess a credit card? Even though we don't use them, I guess we could. We've had her for 8 years, we got her as a baby from the pound. She was our baby when we didn't have any. She would sleep with us and play in my long hair. I feel really sad I didn't notice sooner she was sick. Anyway I hope she is OK, I have a feeling though that she might not be.

Take her to a low cost clinic. The SPCA might know of them in your area. Maybe a non-profit animal rescue organization. I believe the spca has a low cost clinic. Just ask. Give her lots of love, but she may not feel well enough for any holding. See if any sores are on her that need attention. Maybe she has a tooth ache. check her feet to see if she may have something between her toes that might her. -- Just an animal lover who wishes her well. #;={

I had the same thing happen with my cat a couple months ago. Check her teeth. It ended up that mine had lost almost all her teeth so she couldn't eat. The vet tried everything and couldn't figure it out. Finally on a whim, I checked her mouth. Toothless. She now eats moist food twice a day and she's a thousand times better.

I have to agree with the other posters. It may be something completely treatable....

Maybe the vet would let you make small payments?

Good luck. Worrying about a pet is hard. It is also hard to try to balance the love for a pet with financial realities.

if you feel that she is sick....she is, as we humans usually have the ability to sense those things about our pets....

take her to the vet...most are very understanding in situations like this...at least here in the midwest they are....and will worry about payments later.

good thoughts are being sent your way....

i was going to say what rebecca said. we've had situations with our dog where she really had to be seen, but it was not in our budget. luckily we either had someone we could borrow the money from or our vet was understanding and let us make payments.

i hope all is okay. wishing all of you the best.
